Hello to all. Welcome To MAK and Back! I wanted to explain my blog briefly and the goals I hope to reach by creating this blog! I will serve in Peace Corps North Macedonia for the next 27 months (September 2022-December 2024). Peace Corps refers to my group as MAK 25 (the 25th group to serve in Macedonia), hence my blog’s title. If you have a better idea for a title, please let me know. 🙂
I created this blog to accomplish three things:
1.
To share my experiences, lessons, and adventures with friends, family, and hopefully future volunteers!
2.
To make information more accessible on what it is like to be a Peace Corps Trainee and Volunteer (when I was going through the process of applying, accepting, and clearance, I had no idea what to expect).
3.
To document my own experiences through reflection (service can be challenging on your mental health, and it is crucial to journal/reflect on experiences and challenges you may face).
The Peace Corps Mission
To promote world peace and friendship by fulfilling three goals:
- To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
- To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served.
- To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans
